A cosmetic, non-surgical treatment to give for lips that have lost volume and definition with age. Dermal fillers are used for the lips to give a fuller, moisturised, more defined, hydrated natural look. 

A small amount of the gel is injected using a tiny needle to fills the lip area to give volume and definition to the lips with a softer, natural look. The treatment helps reduce lipstick bleed as a result of defined fuller lips. Once treatment is administered, normal daily activities can be resumed immediately. 

Cosmetic improvement can be seen immediately after treatment. Retreatment is recommended approximately twice a year. The longevity will be discussed with you at your appointment. Please feel free to discuss this with our medical aesthetic practitioner.

Treatment typically takes 30 minutes. Prior to the treatment, a thorough medical history is taken to establish suitability for treatment. The treatment is catered to a client’s needs. A discussion will take place at the consultation as to the look the client wants, whether it is a more subtle, natural look or full lip enhancement. Once the client is happy, the consent form is signed, pre-treatment photos are taken and treatment is commenced. 

A small amount of the homogenous, safe to use, non-permanent gel is injected into the lip area to be treated. Discomfort is minimal with the procedure as treatment is brief. 

An Aftercare leaflet will be provided to the client after the procedure. If the client experiences redness and slight bruising, an ice pack can be applied and this should resolve this. Due to the sensitive nature of the area, recovery may take slightly longer. Mineral make-up can be used to cover minor bruising. Normal activity can be commenced immediately after procedure. 

Dermal filler treatment is generally a safe treatment, but occasionally side effects can occur. Redness, burning, itching and discomfort at the injection site may occur but should resolve within a few hours. Swelling and bruising can last up to two weeks but are less common. Hypersensitivity / allergic reactions are rare (treated with antihistamines) Less commonly blue discolouration of the treated area, granuloma, tissue infection / abscess (rare) rarely cold sores may erupt. (Treated with aciclovir cream) 

Dermal filler treatment is generally a safe treatment, but occasionally side effects can occur. Redness, slight bruising, swelling and discomfort at the injection site may occur but should resolve within a few days. Allergic reactions are rare. The treatment should be avoided if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a blood clotting or bleeding disorder, known allergy to dermal fillers or anesthetic.
